Welcome to Retired Tails!
Retired Tails is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing senior dogs from local shelters. Many senior furs spend their golden years in stressful environments because they weren't fostered or adopted in time, which drives our strive to crown as many royal furs as paw-sible, providing their very own royal retirement homes before crossing the rainbow bridge.
Because we know it takes a village to save these fur babies, we often support our underserved and low-income communities by offering outreach, information, and resources to encourage pet retention. This intake diversion keeps beloved pets with their families and out of shelters.
Our Royal Adoptables 👑💕
We ideally service senior dogs but as you can see, we take in a variety of fur-babies and are currently fostering them in our homes. Although our building is not yet physically open to our royal friends, our hearts and homes will always be. As stated in our mission, from dogs & cats to giraffes & sharks, any animal we come across who needs a loving home will be featured here-
no furs, paws or tails about it!

"I was found as a stray in West Philadelphia extremely matted & pretty thin. I may have a 'resting grump face' but please do not be fooled- I am an absolute sweetie to those who are gentle with me. I may not do well with small children and I get easily defensive if another dog is too excited when coming towards me- I'd do best with more relaxed dogs or cats. I love naps, cuddles, quick walks, bacon, and mostly just following my foster around the house. The vet estimated me to be around 1-3 years old but I seem more like a senior.
I am such a charmer. I pinky promise you will fall in love at first meet!"

"At a year old, I was surrendered from a loving family who had to prepare for a new human baby. Thus since, I have quickly been adopted into my new fur-ever home, along with two bonus dog brothers, where I am happily settling in!"

I am a super sweet & friendly pup who just loves to love. I am also super playful & goofy so I may be a little excited, as I am just learning how true love from humans actually feels but there is nothing a little training could not fix. I am working on my reactivity with other dogs so I would be best in a home with no other pets and with someone who is able to keep up with my training."
